Most of the pathways on Mainau are suitable for wheelchair-users or people with walking difficulties (see the map of the island). People with other disabilities (e.g. sight or hearing problems) can enjoy our garden experiences too. Plants in the ‘Garden for Everyone’ grow to a height where it’s easier to touch and smell them. There are also information boards in Braille. Take home some useful tips for making your own garden a pleasurable place for the whole family to enjoy.
Please make use of our free wheelchair service: wheelchairs are available at the mainland and harbour entrances for disabled or elderly visitors.
Our island bus takes you from the mainland entrance right up to the car park by the Schwedenschenke restaurant at the heart of the island (a charge is made).
Electric scooters can also be hired at the mainland and harbour entrances (a charge is made).
The service of our island bus and electric scooters is only available during the main season (23 March until 21 October 2012). If you plan to visit Mainau Island in the low season please contact the Mainau-Servicecentre Tel: +49 7531-303-0 or info(at)mainau.de. We will assist you by trying to find an alternative for you.
Disabled persons carrying a pass “B” pay the regular admission price; companion person is free.
