The Italian Rose garden lies to the south of Mainau Castle. It was originally laid out as an Italian-style flower garden by Grand Duke Friedrich I of Baden in the 19th century. The garden with strict geometrical lines, pergolas, sculptures and fountains is mainly dedicated today to new and old varieties of hybrid tea roses. Delight in the charms of the abundantly-flowering floribunda and polyanthus roses and in the elegance of the rose trees as you stroll around the garden.  The scent, beauty, blooms and elegance of roses is something very sensual. Visitors can vote for the Mainau Queen of Roses in June.
