Mainau’s flagship!

The Schwedenschenke opened in 1937 and is the oldest restaurant on the island. It is well-worth a visit during your day on Mainau. The entire interior was refurbished in the style of a Swedish countryside restaurant during the winter months 2009/2010.

It has a cosy atmosphere and the large terrace with arcade coverings and round flower beds add southern flair.

Enjoy seasonal culinary delights, superb local and international specialities made from local produce and choose from our large selection of local wines.

During the day, we offer quick reasonably priced meals in the Schwedenschenke and in the evening internationally acclaimed haute cuisine. There is a choice of traditional home-cooked dishes right up to chef’s exquisite creations on the á la carte menu. Specialities include local dishes, traditional Swedish dishes and Lake Constance fish delicacies.
