Have fun exploring and discovering things
There’s so much to discover on Mainau. Our playgrounds are an adventure paradise for children. They can play and romp around all day in Water World, Blumi’s Lakeside World, the Dwarf Village, pony riding arena and petting zoo. Visit us; your children will love it.
Water World in Mainau Children’s Land is a playing area representing Lake Constance in the old days. There’s an island in the middle of the lake with little house on stilts and towers all huddled together around the shore. Children can get from one building to another over hanging bridges or wooden stepping stones without touching the ground; or from one side of the lake to the other on floats or with the rope ferry. The playground covers an area of 1,100 square metres Tip: There’s a dryer for wet clothes right next to the ‘Eisbrecher’ ice-cream stand. (No. 12 on the map of the island).

The theme playground Blumi’s Lakeside World is for 3 – 6 year olds. There’s lots of space for children to romp around and have fun discovering things. Children love playing and hiding in this authentic lakeside landscape complete with driftwood, climbing nets, balancing beams and a beaver’s lodge. Their mobility is trained in the most natural of ways at play. The second part of the new playground is dedicated to phenomenology and is an exploratory area of individual rooms specially designed for children. Discover some truly amazing things! (No. 12 on the map of the island)

The Dwarf Village is a specially constructed playground for 1 – 4 year olds. The cave-like huts, wooden railway and water area are a delight for little children. (No. 12 on the map of the island)

The pony riding arena is located at an idyllic spot between the farmyard and the lake. We’ve five Shetland ponies. Children up to 12 years old can ride them round the arena. (No. 13 on the map of the island)
Not many children nowadays come into contact with grazing cows, bleating goats or clucking hens. So imagine the thrill they get seeing Mainau’s animals close up. See old breeds of pet, miniature ponies, donkeys and cattle at the larger animal enclosures. Hens and rabbits dart about all over the farmyard and farm garden. You can stroke the animals at the petting zoo – the goats really love it! (No. 13 on the map of the island)
