Hymn to spring and dahlias

The awakening of spring in the Dahlia Garden

In spring, the beds of the dahlia garden on the Mainau Island shine in a colorful sea of flowers. Popular spring flowers such as daffodils, ornamental leeks, Iceland poppies, forget-me-nots and different varieties of tulips can be admired here. The blaze of color and the panoramic view of Lake Constance make this section a unique experience until mid-June. Then the planting season for the dahlias begins, which will crown the dahlia garden in late summer and fall.

Autumnal floral fireworks

In late summer, the dahlia garden on the island of Mainau is a veritable firework display of flowers. Around 12,000 dahlias transform the southern slope of the island into a unique blaze of color. The sun-kissed dahlias come in all imaginable shades of color, shapes and sizes. The beds are generously laid out and staggered according to growth height, from the smallest mignon dahlias to the giant 2-meter-high varieties.
