Decorative foliage plant meets South American ornamental plant
The ‘Fern and Fuchsia’ section of the park was redesigned in 2023. Around 65 different fuchsia varieties and 45 fern species were combined to create a tropical jungle-like setting. Structure, light and shade as well as leaf shapes take centre stage. A misting system creates the impression of being in a tropical mountain forest in the early hours of the morning. This also provides refreshment on hot summer days.
Part of this park area is also the historic plane tree avenue, which dates back to the work of Grand Duke Friedrich I of Baden and was previously not accessible to guests on the island of Mainau.
The misting system runs from May, depending on weather conditions, from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. at minutes 00, 15, 30, 45, for 5 minutes each.
