Mainau Farm

Streicheleinheiten für die Ziegen im Mainau-Bauernhof

Petting zoo temporarily closed
We are currently carrying out important work, which is why our petting zoo is not accessible until the end of September and will remain closed. We ask for your understanding.

Petting zoo, alpaca and more.

Our Mainau animals live on the Mainau farm. In the spacious animal enclosure there are old domestic animal breeds such as ponies and miniature donkeys; chickens and rabbits frolic around the Mainau farm with its farm garden, and petting is expressly permitted in the petting zoo - the goats love it.

Our farm residents
We are home to alpacas, rabbits, chickens, goats, Shetland ponies, donkeys, sheep and cats.

Petting zoo
Part of the goat enclosure is open to everyone and the goats are looking forward to being petted.

Rare breeds of domestic animals
Visitors can admire brown mountain sheep and Valais black-nosed sheep as well as chickens of the “Vorwerkhühner” breed, which are endangered domestic animal breeds.

Farm garden
Every farm has its own farm garden! This is located in the middle of the animal enclosures in front of the barn. Crops such as lettuce, herbs, fruit and vegetables are cultivated here.

The petting zoo in the winter months
According to official regulations, we are required to provide hand washing facilities in the immediate vicinity of our petting zoo. However, as the water pipes for the washbasin would freeze and be damaged in winter, we have to turn off the water during this time. As a result, the petting zoo's enclosure will unfortunately have to remain closed during the winter months. The animals are of course still out and about in their enclosures and can be observed by our visitors. We thank you for your understanding.
