Magnificent tulips in spring with an Alpine backdrop
Immerse yourself in a colorful landscape of flowers - experience spring in all its glory! The spring avenue stretches from the Beer Garden Rothaus-Seeterrassen at the Kinderland, across the Grand Duke Frederick Terrace all the way to the Fountain Arena and forms the prelude to the floral fireworks on Mainau Island every year.
Depending on the weather, the first harbingers of spring, such as snowdrops and winter aconites, can be spotted as early as February and March. Crocuses follow at the end of March and beginning of April and initiate the flowering spectacle. After that, an incredible variety of daffodils, hyacinths and tulips enchant every visitor with their different shapes and colors.
In summer, the majestic plane trees and chestnut trees provide plenty of shade along the avenue. And to ensure that the splendor of the flowers shines anew every year, over 300,000 flower bulbs are planted in the meadows in autumn.
