Welcome to January – the atmosphere at the start of the year is unique: everything feels like a new beginning, full of fresh ideas and good intentions. Nature is still dormant, and that is precisely what makes this time so inspiring, as if the island were taking a deep breath before it soon blossoms again.

The January is also a time to try new things and consciously decide what you want to focus on in the coming months. Many people resolve to pay more attention to the little things around them, such as discovering the first green tips of snowdrops, breathing in the clear air of Lake Constance, or enjoying the view of the snow-covered Alps.

I cordially invite you to experience this special time of new beginnings with your family and friends here with us. Visit the exhibition in the Coat of Arms Hall and learn more about Mainau Castle and the Bernadotte family. Until January 5, 2026, you also have the opportunity to enjoy the evening park landscape at the Christmas Garden on Mainau Island and be enchanted by the unique installations in this winter setting.
