The scent of roses, long summer evenings, and musical experiences give June on Mainau Island its unmistakable character. During the Rose Weeks from June 13 to 28, 2026, the Italian Rose Garden transforms into an atmospheric gathering place—accompanied by Mediterranean flair, culinary delights, and inspiring events centered around the queen of flowers.
A special summer experience awaits you on the castle lawn: against the impressive backdrop of the Baroque castle, we invite you to play croquet yourself. This elegant garden game was already a popular pastime in the days of Grand Duke Frederick I. Take this opportunity to experience this traditional lawn sport in the special atmosphere of the historic park.
On Midsummer’s Day, June 20 and 21, 2026, Mainau Island will also celebrate its Swedish roots: traditional music and dances, flower wreath-making, and a variety of family activities make the Midsummer Festival in the castle courtyard a summer experience for young and old alike.
June brings musical delights with the “Jazz under the Palms” concert series: The Thilo Wagner Trio and Claude Diallo Situation feat. Sophie Bright will bring modern jazz sounds and summery grooves to the Palm House.
Whether it’s a stroll through the Italian Rose Garden, a jazz evening in the Palm House, or a game of croquet in front of the castle—enjoy your time off on Mainau Island.
