A Journey Back to Prehistoric Times

This season, massive prehistoric giants are taking over Mainau Island. Seven impressive life-size dinosaurs can be discovered as part of a temporary exhibition nestled among the ferns and fuchsias, as well as in the arboretum. Encounters with the Apatosaurus, Diplodocus, Oviraptor, Pterodactylus, Styracosaurus, and the famous Tyrannosaurus Rex turn a stroll through the park into a brief journey through time.

But the focus isn’t just on the dinosaurs themselves. Plants that already existed during the time of the dinosaurs still grow on Mainau Island today. These include tree ferns, primeval sequoias, and ginkgos. In this way, the exhibition combines fascinating prehistoric history with today’s plant life, conveying a vivid impression of what the landscape might have looked like during the time of the dinosaurs.
