Flowering times

What blooms on Mainau Island in April?

In April, the island of Mainau becomes a living painting, where spring arrives and pours out a cornucopia of daffodils, tulips, blooming ornamental cherries, hyacinths and imperial crowns. The variety of spring colors is reflected in every corner of Mainau. It is a real pleasure to stroll through the blossoming paths, strolling from one sea of flowers to the next and being touched by the uniqueness of nature.

In the perennial garden and in the spring borders, one plant attracts everyone's attention with its impressive appearance: the imperial crown(Fritillaria imperialis). Originally from Turkey, Iran and Afghanistan, this species is particularly striking. In April, a crown of downward-sloping, bell-shaped flowers appears at the top of the approximately 100-125 cm tall flower stem.
