March is that time of the year when spring is awakening and narcissus, tulips and magnolias popping up in the garden. Find first crocus blossoms hidden in shady areas of Metasequoia Avenue.
In March you will find Leucojum vernum or giant snowflake with its white and green blooms in several spotsat Mainau Island
Camellias with its rose-like forms are opening. The dark green glossy leaves and the bright pink of the blooms create a gorgeous contrast.
Crocuses have been a symbol of spring for a long time. Discover flower carpets of white, yellow and violet species at several places like Baroque Palace Lawn, Metaseqouia Avenue or Spring Avenue
Edgeworthia chrysantha is known as Paper Bush or Indian Paper Tree. It is a medium sized shrub with velvety silver and yellow pom-pom like flowers.
The first water-lily tulips (Tulipa kaufmanniana) show up along the Spring Avenue
With its pale yellow flowers on small bunches Spike Winterhazel (Corylopsis spicata) at Grand Duke Friedrich terrace heralds springtime.
When it’s blooming, it’s hard to miss! After passing the bridge to Mainau Island you will find some Magnolias flowering.
A wide range of daffodils with different flower shapes and colors looking absolutely fabulous when combined with other vernal flowers across Mainau Island.
